Surprise! additional essays are no fun. I was merrily entering a list of my awards ... when I encountered the following:

How would factors such as your background, work and life experiences, special interests, culture, socioeconomic status, race, or ethnicity contribute to the diversity of the entering class, and hence to the experience of your Stanford classmates? Please describe these factors and their relevance. (700 characters maximum)

Somehow "I read and edit gay porn based on fictional characters" REALLY is not going to fly. SEND HLP.

I mean...if you talk about fandom in an intellectual (and not gay porn) way, maybe it WOULD fly. I have a friend going to MIT doing her master's thesis on fandom and trolling and wank. So. :D

Hah! Well, she's there for new media studies or something, not psychology...but still!

Pretty sure I could only think of one person who fit that description. ;-) lulz FTW!

Don't you do non-fiction-related gay outreach stuff? [livejournal.com profile] cindelius hasn't roped you into that yet?

That may be a better alternative than reading and editing gay porn based on fictional characters.

Then again, if it were me, I'd probably put it down anyway. ;-)

Also, being a rich white female from suburban Bay Area doesn't automatically disqualify you. They're asking why you're unique and interesting; surely you've done some stuff that's unique and interesting? Particularly since leaving home?

Oh my god, I had been misreading it!

I THOUGHT IT WANTED 700 WORDS BUT IT'S CHARACTERS.
